MAYUKO MIYATA was born in Kanagawa, Japan, and started learning piano at the age of 5. Having won several competitions during her youth, she decided to move to Europe, the homeland of classical music, when she was 18.
She began her piano studies at the “Hochschule für Musik und Theater Rostock” under Professor Bernd Zack. She also studied musical accompaniment with Professor Christian de Bruyn and gained two years of experience as an opera répétiteur. Her love for Chopin’s music took her to Poland for one year, where she studied under Professor Lidia Grychtołówna and immersed herself in Chopin’s piano pieces.
Mayuko later returned to Germany and completed her studies (Künstlerische Ausbildung) with top honours at the Rostock University of Music and Theatre in 2007. She continued a post-graduate study in Piano Chamber Music with Professor Stefan Imorde and Mario Alarcón, completing the program in 2011 at the top of the class. Mayuko further pursued a Master’s Course working with internationally acclaimed artists such as Elisabeth Leonskaja, Anatol Ugorski, Katarzyna Popowa-Zydon, and Kevin Kenner.
Bedsides numerous solo performances and a series of chamber music concerts, Mayuko’s carreer also included playing as a soloist with various well-known orchestras, such as the Orchestra for the Mecklenberg Chamber-Soloists Germany, the Vorpommern Philharmonic Orchestra Germany and the Kalisz Symphony Orchestra in Poland, which was widely broadcast on television and radio.
After drawing attention at the International Chopin Piano Competition, Mayuko was invited to join the German Chopin Society, where she enjoyed further success. She was also a guest performer at Mecklenburg-Vorpommern festivals as well as at the “Villa Musica” Festival in Rheinland-Pfalz. In 2011, she won a scholarship from the Richard Wagner Society.
Mayuko currently lives in Berlin and continues to perform concerts worldwide. In 2012, she went on a Japan tour with Trio Odessa, in 2013 she toured Japan as a soloist. In 2013, she released a CD called “Romantic Works for Flute and Piano”, with the Genuin label. The following CD “Waltzes” , composed by Kerim König, which was release in 2015, earned an outstanding review from the music magazine “klassik.com”. They praised her solid finger technique and her senual, expressive way to play the piano.
From 2011 – 2016 she was holding a teaching position as a répétiteur in violin classes for Professor Petru Munteanu and Prof. Liviu Casleanu at the Rostock University of Music and Theatre. Since 2015 she is jury president at the International Music Arts Piano Concours Fukuoka in Japan. Here, she is also also holdung seminars and master classes.
